So whether Knowles could replace Alistair Smith as the home grown player in the squad depends on whether he's been with us for a year. He certainly started this season playing for our youth team, but without looking more closely I'm not sure if he was with us last season.

I think it means he just has to have been with us before his 18th birthday.

The year means he must of signed a year before the end of the season which he turns 19.

Don't think so Pete.

"Registered with the club for a minimum of 12 months..."

Otherwise would make a mockery of "homegrown".

Smith

Preston
Pearce
Sweeney

CJ
Tomlinson
Bish
Grant
Benning

Ajose
Walker

3-5-2

The two defensive midfielders should allow Grant to then create for the two up front.

CJ on the right, not ideal but the best option we have without Hayden

I agree with this... Swap Grant for Mellis when grant tires and we can move CJ up the pitch in the latter stages.

We had some good results like this in the past. (formation wise moving CJ up)

Grant still appears to be the 2019 boo boy. Still have him in the side in front Of Mellis, as he creates more.
And he seems to be getting a lot more stick than Walker, Hamilton and the clinical Ajose, who are also all up there to create/score goals and have all gone missing. You could make a good case for Hamilton being the one rested, if he wants to bring Tomlinson back in, as I cant remember his last decent game away from home.

No, no requirement on 3 years.

These are the rules on the home grown player to be included in the match day squad

Ah yes, I understood it to be the same as home grown player but club rather than country.

Smith
Preston Pearce Sweeney

Jones bishop Mellis benning

Khan

CJ Walker

Would have one of knowles or Hakeem on the bench and if we needed a goal in the last 10 get them on.
Couple of years back Ivan Toney was thrown in the mix out of nowhere for Northampton and was a big help to keeping them up.

Stranger things happened with likes of Rashford getting one chance and then momentum following from there.
