Disappointing considering the team was made up of a lot of lads that should be doing what they can to try and get in to the team, and could be called upon at any minute!

we have to bear in mind that Mirfin probs played a large proportion of that game and will be very rusty.

Potentially worried to challenge etc. maybe a bit flattering too them

Perch played on Saturday for Scunthorpe against Sunderland, can’t see him being the type of player to have a trial either having played at a higher level than league 2 all his career.

All Logan's fault. He doesn't come off his line, you know?

James Perch is a local lad from Bellamy Road.

Has had a good career and would no doubt be a big asset I'd be pleased with him if it were true.

Very versatile player who could play on the right or cover for Bishop. May be a recommendation by Bish but feel Scunny would want a fee.

Fingers crossed.

Paying a fee for a 33 year old. Not sure bout that.

Didn’t Perch play for Forest?

If Bishop had required a fee would you have paid it?

Still plenty of life left in Perchy and he has an immense amount of experience, just what we need for the final push.

Was waiting for Perch to be linked. Would obviously be a great signing but I think it's just him being from Mansfield that has sparked the rumour.

I put on here a month or so ago that I had a brief chat with Perch at the Scunny game, I asked him if he ever saw himself playing here and he replied ''in a couple of year maybe''

When he is 35/36? No thanks!

Edit: Forgot about bishop being that old - probably should take that comment back

Difference is we are looking for someone to get up and down the wing consistently and be able to take a man on. Not some RB that doesn’t cross the halfway line and only humps it forward.

Perch is not the RWB we need.

James is a Mansfield lad who has property near Nottingham.

Would he come to Mansfield, his wage would probably be big but can't really see Scunthorpe wanting money for a 33 year old who they signed on a free.

We wait and see?

He must have changed then if that's how he plays these days. Used to be a really forward raiding full back and scored for fun as a youth.

Indeed, I also suspect that the player that covers the most ground in a Stags shirt is also the oldest! 33 is not even remotely old!

It's almost as if we've not learnt to trust DF's judgement on players

Exactly. Find it hard to believe that a player who has played in the premier league, consistently at a higher level, played 25 games in the league above this season including Saturday against Sunderland would need to be playing on trial in a reserve game before making a move anywhere but I suppose time will tell!
