On coach on way home. First half we looked shaky and there were gaps on the flanks, just like Carlisle. Our keeper made two great saves and kept us in it. Second half changed formation and looked more dangerous and complete. A niggly poorly refereed game. Second half we had three chances and scored. Easy.

Reading this thread has been hilarious. That is until White's suspected broken ankle...fingers crossed for him and us.

Massive comeback from the lads.

We do have a highly paid bloke called Paul Anderson who could come in and do a job.

We may need to sign a right wing back and a centre half. We do not want CJ playing right wing back.

We will also need cover for Bish because he is bound to be booked again soon and pick up a two match ban. It sounded like he should have been booked today.

Time for the youth team to step up, Law looked very comfortable playing on the right.

I don't think Anderson wants to play at right wing back, possibly part of the problem with him not getting a game for us

A big chance for Will Atkinson although I don't think he has the pace to play RWB.

I'm visiting friend's on Mersea Island , not far from Colchester . The beers flowing nicely . Took y Forest mate along today who lives on the Island . He was very Impressed with our second half performance. He was surprised how many people were moaning at h.t .
You could clearly see where the issued was in the first half . When that was rectified I knew we were on with a chance . Just hope Whites injury isn't as bad as rumoured but didn't look good . He will be a huge loss to us
I remember Barry Foster missing the rest of the promotion season .
We never gave up today . As soon as we scored they were rattled . That was a great win against a good team .I'm always confident that we will score away from home as the opposition don't sit back . Great support again . Well back to the ale .

Anyone in attendance confirm whether we switched to 4-3-3 or 4-4-2?

Well who the devil saw that?

If you did, you’re either lying or bloody good at betting.

The first half sounded absolutely dire.

433 seems to be the way forward

For me we went 4-2-1-3 second half with grant playing behind Ajose, Hamilton, Walker.

I think we need to go with a 4 (although a lot harder with white's injury) we have looked really shaky with 3 at the back recently. It also allows us to play with more bodies in midfield/upfront which helps us win the second ball which allows us to play our football.

Bishop was outstanding today and really does not stop running!

Referee was shocking probably more so for Colchester but it’s the win that matters!

I don't think I can articulate the difference in standard between the two halves.

Players who poor were suddenly playing with confidence when we went 433. Grant was the main culprit, and then was the best player on the pitch.

Ajose went from not being bad, but being anonymous, to scoring and setting up CJ with a beautiful cross. Had a great 2nd half.

Mellis and Bishop seemed to be always out of position in the first half, and in the 2nd half they covered all the pitch and pulled the string and dictated the tempo.

White and CJ got forward and overlapped really well 2nd half. If he's going to miss the rest of the season we'll miss his marauding runs.

The past 3 visits to Colchester we've had 5 halves of dross and 1 immense half. Like some have said, could be season defining. The mentality is there. Loved the unity between fans and players and DF at full time.

COYS.

Unless a new signing is in it will be CJ at RWB. Plain as day.

Unless DF feels young Aiden Walker is ready or a new RWB/CB is brought in.

Credit where its due. Awful first half and then had the spirit to come back like that. That came from nowhere and was a lovely surprise.

Funny how we won the last game in your sequence Darren. It seems as though you'd conceded the points before the final whistle. It's a good job those there and the team didn't eh!

Keep hearing the new lad up front is lazy and got a bad attitude from fans at previous clubs!

victor A block wrote:Very very poor . Defensive formation at the start a disaster. No defensive midfield cover. They run thru at will . Thought Smith might have done better with 2nd goal . The new striker just looks rank disinterested. I'd bring Rose on for him . Too many formation changes to fit new players......it's either that or the Colchester manager has done his homework and Flitcroft hasn't . We get anything from this apart from a 2 match ban for Bishop I will be very very surprised .
