I'd imagine t'will be fairly strong to cater for the fact many won't have had much competitive football in the last week or two .

So our reserves are playing at the ground of the team that has just played a competitive fixture with Chesterfield?

With a new manager in place, any county player worth his salt would have made a super effort in this match.

I don't know how strong a team they put out but I'm sure they would all have been playing to impress and maybe wanted it more.

Higher up in the thread, it says both were young sides.

They were both young sides.

It was a cracking game of football in awful conditions. The first goal we let in was embarrassing by Kean & he tried to make out he was injured to save embarrassment. The other goals he let in didn't exactly cover himself in glory either. I don't think Sam Wilson would've conceded 3 of those goals. Have a look for yourself on the hightlights, they don't make very good viewing though. Some great full bloodied tackles going in, stuff you rarely see these days.

Having watched the youth team perform so admirably last week at AFC Bournemouth, it's an eye-opener to watch those highlights of the U21's. I'd guess that Cooper, Whitlow, Dempster and McGuire (3 of whom we can see at the end at the end of the video) are seething with that defensive performance. The second Notts goal is a horror show as they break 4 on 1. You can hear Whitlow (I think) shouting his thoughts straight after the goal. Maybe I'm being unfair if the conditions were that bad, and perhaps it is difficult to judge that fairly having not been there; also only basing on 4 minutes out of 90.

You’re not being unfair you’re spot on. I heard one of them shout something about the goal coming from our corner. The conditions were the same for both teams but in the 2nd half Notts were far superior (& they had to replace their keeper at HT!) & could’ve scored more than 5.

Dan was there filming pitch side so there should be more footage soon. Hopefully an interview with JD who wasn’t at all impressed watching that.

Interesting. I just watched those highlights. It looks to me like their striker taps the ball past Kean and catches his hand, albeit slight. The other goals I'm not 100% sure how Kean could do anything about being stranded by his defence. a couple of them were free shots on goal from 12 yards, they may as well have had penalties. At 2:08 he makes a double save, whilst his defence are stood like statues.

Thing is most of those goals wouldn't have even been shots at goal in our first team. Hopefully we will set the extra defensive drills in training, that positioning was awful.

On that showing I can't see Kean challenging Logan for the no 1 shirt for a while.
