Rhead. Mixed feelings. He works hard and does a good job but we’ll be in for better players.

We’ll have to take a gamble on a player so either a walker type - well rated young player that it could work out for or a Davies type player who has done it before but on his way down.

We need to be brave and buy next years striker the in January.

I realise that would cost a big chunk but would get us promoted and at the same time build for next season. We don't need a stop gap as we would just be having the same debate in June.

Why are people talking about Rhead ? Stop concentrating on ex strikers. Look forward not back.

If it was that easy to buy a top quality striker in Jan I’m sure every team would be doing it.

The problem with ‘being brave’ is if it fails, most people will say we panicked during January.

Not many clubs will let effective strikers go in the January window.

If they do the fees will be hiked up.

Only reason Eisa is available is that he is struggling at the higher level.

If a forwards contract is up at the end of the season and that team is mid table, most would sell to get something back as they would just leave in summer anyway. There must be a couple of those somewhere in the bottom two divisions.

I don't think there are any in that category we would want to sign. The only one I can see in the top scorers list with a mid table side is Ollie Palmer :)

That’s a little unthinking. A championship striker who is on the fringe of the first team but could be a lethal striker at L2 level could easily be available.

Thing is they would want a minimum 18-month contract. Would be better to agree a fee and loan them. then come the end of the season we can decided if we buy for the agreed price or just leave him at his current club (like Kane Hemmings and look how he's turned out)

Unlikely he would come but no harm in trying.

think Bristol rovers were rumoured to be in for him in the summer. definitely worth a punt

Scored for Scotland today so we were probably wise not going for him ...

With the return from injury of Cook and Maynard, the loan signing of the lad from West Ham and the emergence of Jimmy Knowles from the you the team I can’t see Davies getting a kick at all.

I feel he might be pretty much done...

but you never know, send him on loan to the conference... let him score some goals against Chesterfield and county and bring him back towards the end of the season helping us when we need something a bit different.

Craig Davies is/was a good player. Injuries can have a big impact on older players. He's a clever player his 2 goals early last season were good and his general play was good. The problem we have now is he's spent so long injured and will take time to get back up and running again (both literally and figuratively). He's had a tough time here, I think he's returned from one injury and then got another pretty much straight away somewhere else.

One thing is for certain he’s been backed 100% by the football club I guess the big question is will he repay with goals or will he be off in January?

At 33 he isn't going to find it easy or quick to get back to a competitive level and even then, he has to prove himself a better option than Rose, Maynard, Cook, Knowles and Dapo. To do that he'll need to do well over several games and that will require hitting the ground running when he gets his chance. Its a big ask, but I hope it works out for him.

According to the official site we have another four or five reserve games before Christmas so all being well I'm sure he'll get a chance in those games to prove his fitness/worth.

I'd limit his time to reserve games and cup games until the new year. It seems a bit excessive but he's had so many setbacks. A fully fit, injury free and raring to go Davies will be a godsend for the run in to the end of the season.
