Reece Brown apparently, brother of Wes.

He played and scored for FGR on Saturday?

That's a different Reece Brown.

It looks like he may have played under DF at Barnsley and Bury. He's not played a lot for a 27 year old. He looks like he could be a non-contract player as well.

Different Reece Brown.

One site says he can play Right back, Centre back and defensive mid. Kill 3 birds with one stone

Despite him lacking games in recent years, Flitcroft must have rated him at Bury - he got a move to Sheffield United after that. Nothing certain it’s him anyway of course.

In the Scunthorpe game Martin assessment of him was

Smith 7 Grew into the game in midfield looking composed and assured.

There’s a difference between a dead rubber Checkatrade game and a must win games in the league when teams are scrapping for points. I’m not saying never blood youngsters but personally think we’d be taking a risk to not find extra cover if we can move on the likes of Butcher.

Smith has just a signed a new contract extension, so the management think he is good enough.

Nice try Pete, but wanting DF out by blooding youngsters and missing promotion a 2nd time just isn't quite subtle enough to go undetected!! :P :P

I'd be willing to forgo promotion in an attempt to bring on the youthlings, but i guarantee most fans and (probably) JR wouldn't. The amount of investment and fan expectation would almost certainly seal DF's fate if he intentionally dropped a winning squad in favour of inexperience. We have some of the best football for decades, an owner investing heavily for the future and a manager keen to show his worth. Adding youth into the 1st team (imo) would cause a drag in momentum that would be suicidal. We have the moon on a stick right now, i think it's a bit much to ask for stardust sprinkles on top ;)

If you're ever on Bullseye let me know, dude - you'd gamble the speedboat star-prize, just to win that Mickey Mouse telephone! :P

I think we need a RB. Get Luke O'Neill back, both wing backs with fantastic deliveries and set pieces then.

You mean Luke O’Neill who’s playing week in week out for a League 1 side.

Yes for a crap League 1 side who could easily go down this season.

No MotC

What I am saying is that playing Smith for the two games Bishop could be banned for is not the end of the world, when the alternative would be splashing cash on an extra body that might not play much when Bishop is back.

Not gone well for the trialist or the rest of the lads in the reserves game.

A team including Logan, Mirfin, Gibbons, Butcher, Atkinson, Khan, Rose, Graham, Smith, and the trialist getting smashed 6-0 by Wigan’s young development side. Hardly staking a case to be in the team!

Doesn’t sound like Atkinson, Butcher or Smith got a grip of that which is my concern about our depth in midfield, but then again clearly none of them turned up.

Surely we can expect one or two to leave, our budget must be massive - it’s got to be significantly more than even last season now, thanks Steve Evans.

we need to shift some deadwood, mainly OSJ, Anderson and Butcher. I don't think butcher has done much wrong, it's just not worked for him here has it?

and since you mentioned Evans - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46971872 charged with improper conduct

For cover at RB/RWB, how about Brendan Moloney? He's still a free agent.

Thread here titled 'Taxi for Evans'. They've had enough. They're moaning about his new signings, but one poster is singling out Colin Daniel and Rhys Bennett for special criticism.

A year is a long time, this time last year I wouldn't have realised how glad I would be to not have the words 'Mansfield Town manager' before the words 'Steve Evans'. Peterborough did us a massive favour. When we look back in 10 years (hopefully from the Championship), the role that Peterborough had in our hopeful rise should never be underestimated.

Every year we should call 27th February 'Steve Evans Day' and send Peterborough a gift to say thank you. This year may I suggest a Hippopotamus made of China.

£250,000 for Evans was good business, shame it’s offset by the deadwood we have now.

Get Rhys Bennett back on loan. He would be great cover for Hayden White.

The centre backs we currently have are all better than Bennett. Plus, he was atrocious at right back,

Not sure he'd cover the length of the pitch in the same way Whitey could, or step over and cross balls as well. We need a quick wing-back there.

Thought i'd edit it to match what Evans would probably have said :P

Mind you, knowing him he'd probably have it as Mansfield Town & the world's best ever manager: Steve Evans ;)

It was a rather large (mouthed) tartan bullet we dodged there
