I don’t think his value lie in his current abilities, but his development curve over the last year (in my opinion) ANY club in the championship will see that and know they can speed that up or add value to it, and it’s a punt worth taking.

the @exagentdave fake twitter account has been shut down.

@efl_hub and @AnonymousKitman to go next surely... though their fun will be over in two weeks anyway.

The reality is, if Villa offer a million for CJ, take the offer and can bring in another quality striker and winger. Everyone has a price.

Past few games, feel as though ever since the rumours around CJ has affected his performances imo. Been great to see him develop but couldn’t fault him going up a higher level.

It’s all hypothetical until there’s an official approach. All we can do is make the right noices and pump the price up. If a big club comes in and he wants to go the best thing to do is take the cash and have a back up plan. Saying all that I hope he stays, at least until the end of the season when you’re going for promotion the only player that should be leaving are the ones the manager doesn’t want

At least we know CR and DF would use the money wisely and if he goes off the boil he could be worth nothing at the end of the season, i say cash in if £1million

So long as we could get him back on loan for the rest of the season I wouldn't be too bothered.

Which loan player is being chucked outside the squad then?

CJ will hit form again, his value will increase again, best keeping hold of him.

Or just sign an agreement to sell in the summer. Easily gets round the loan problem

Id drop CJ on Saturday. His heads not been right the last few games and he's not as good as Mal or White at wing back.

Let's take the money and move on.
We can cope without him fine with the new signings
Get promotion and buy Walker and Grant with the cash...

Simples
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

Good point, didn't think of that. Just agree to do it in the summer then as Jamie says.

Or alternatively.....keep him and carry on developing him?or is that too simplistic?

It's not simplistic, but it is idealistic.

Maybe use the money to sign one of the loan players permanently in this window. I would guess Sweeney would be the obvious one

I don’t think CJs form has dipped much at all. The fact that the opposition has two players on him and in Yeovil’s case, there were sometimes four players swarming around him, doesn’t make it easy for him. What it does do though is create a lot of space for Walker, Ajose and Grant which is only a good thing imo.

If any side from now on tries this tactic, Grant will tear them a new one.

CJ was below average against Carlisle and Yeovil but then again quite a few players were.

Villa have recalled Andre Green back from Pompey, he is tipped for big things.

Hamilton got us 2 extra points in yesterday's game alone. I'm not sure that 'taking the money' would be in the best interest of the club right now.

Whilst we have this golden opportunity of promotion with Hamilton, Walker, Grant & Ajose (all of whom could be at higher clubs next season). I think we should stand firm and put our faith in this quartet to fire us to promotion.

There is no guarantee that we could buy Walker & Grant, even if we get promoted. They are Nottingham Forest players with Championship aspirations.

The priority now is to bring in a defender - especially as Hayden White could be out for the rest of the season.

Without Nicky and Tyler's goals he wouldn't have though, it's a team game.

We’ve definitely got to sign a right back, and a centre mid.

We really are threadbare in the middle at the moment with only Bishop and Mellis available as quality options who are out and out centre mids. As somebody mentioned with Bishop 1 booking away from a 2 game ban you’ve got to have somebody good enough to come in and not take away from how we play. Until MacDonald is back we don’t have that.

Right back, well we don’t have one.

Important not to go out of January short in these positions, we’ve given ourselves at great chance. We don’t want squad depth to catch up with us!

Young Smith has been on bench last few games, so to put him in midfield wouldn’t be the end of the world.
