Was introduced to Telf and his son a couple of months by my mate who worked with him at the pit. Really nice bloke. RIP mate and my condolences to all of your family.

Sad to say that I was the Deputy in charge of the development that Gordon was a belt attendant on that day. Having got him to hospital, I then had to tell his Dad what had happened and we both were in tears for such a lovely lad to have had that happen to him.

That event has been with me ever since, although I saw him a few times before I moved away and he never once showed any signs of self pity. Typical of the boy he was at the time and the man he went on to become.

Chimney, would you please pass on my sincere condolences to Gordon senior.
