Grimsby Scorefred sponsored by A Win and into top 7

Postby STAGS FOR LIFE » Sun Nov 04, 2018 10:32 am

:) We got The Mariners coming here Tuesday night and a win at home would lift us into top 7 and the play off spot.

Not the result we wanted at Cheltenham but hopefully the players will be boosted by scoring late on and keeping the away record intact.

Let's hope those stats don't improve tomorrow night.

I think this will be another tough game with the fish fighting all the way. We should have enough to beat Grimsby but I don't expect a cricket score. There could well be a couple sent off as matches against Grimsby seem to be ill tempered affairs these days.

A win by an odd goal will do me. :mtfc:

Cue the Mitch Rose show...

Mansfield 2
Grimsby 1

Very nearly clucked it up against Cheltenham (as I intimated we may well do) so we need to stay on it for the full 90 or else it's gonna be tough.

We need a reaction after Saturday’s late leveller.
I’d expect Grimsby’s gameplan will be to make it difficult for us and see what they can get so it may be down to what we can make happen. I’d expect them to have a little extra motivation with the late cancellation of the previous match appearing to have upset them.

We need to keep in mind this will be the sixth game played in less than three weeks.

As such I don't think we can expect a towering performance.

I just hope we have got enough in the tank to beat Grimsby.

It won't be easy.

If they come with a plan to counter us fast and wide and float crosses to our back post they may come away with something. We've looked very ropey at the back from these types of balls.

I'm predicting a 3-0 win, with Tyler Walker scoring a hat-trick, and Stags in the play-offs.

First time I seen the Mariners at Field Mill, Terry Eccles scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 win.

Grimsby at homes a win, let’s not beat around the bush on this one.

Fair dues it’s not going to be the case they just roll over and have their tummies tickled but play as we did last Tuesday etc and it should be a 2-0 win etc.

After the lucky escape at Cheltenham failing to win here would be far from ideal.

Top 7 by the end of the game

No excuses, Grimsby have only got 7 points from 8 away games.

We need to start quick and push them back, take our chances and fire ourselves into the top 7.

3-0 Mansfield (Walker, Rose & CJ)

According to the Chadvert, the is going to a weather Vortex starting this evening, Wet and Winds of 40MPH.

Could be a horrible condition to play in

nastier weather not coming until the middle of the night, as per metoffice and BBC weather. You'll barely even need a coat for the match.

Much like the Cheltenham fixture, we expect to win this, and comfortably.

The team should find getting up for this game easier than getting up for a scantily clad Kate Beckinsdale stood next to a paddling pool full of lime green jelly.

Another early goal would do nicely but either way we’ve got to be going and getting 3 points tonight. I’d go with one change, Sweeney in for White, and ideally Khan will be fit enough to be on the bench but probably be too soon?
