Spartacus and I were sat sat next to John and Carolyn for the remembrance game and they said they tried everything not to play the game on Sunday. Even floating the idea of not playing at all (the financial implications were too great).

John was especially upset, for as an ex soldier himself, if the game had been on the Saturday he would have been able to lay a wreath for the first time. Business commitments have prevented him from doing so in previous years, and now the FA have.

The FA have said we can play the last post and have a minutes silence but we cannot lay wreaths. Again they were both upset.

Every seat at The Mill on Sunday will have a poppy on it.

We're so lucky to have them in charge.

As I've said before, Lest We Forget, looks like the FA have.

Thanks for that update. That’s great to know.

Nice touch with the poppies on seats. Why no wreaths allowed though ? How odd.

PS I didn’t know JR had served.

Well done the Radfords. They understand the fans. If I was John I'd lay wreath anyway and s*d the FA.

Agreed. I'd love to see them try to punish us after all the England shirt/poppy arguments.

The FA have said no wreaths,, because it will be viewed as a political symbol. Yes the very same FA who argue every year that it isn't a political symbol when they want England to wear one.

I grow more and more sure at every turn that FA stands fornicating arrissholes.

That’s because we have a local owner who is pumping his many millions and his soul into the club! Hopefully his boys can fall in love with the club like we all have done at some point of our childhood.

How come Sheffield can play a local derby on a Friday night but we can’t play anyone within a 60mile radius at 3pm on a Saturday?!

Presumably it is the difference between a football league game and an FA Cup game. Both games are on TV so that won't be the difference.

It is the fact that ours will be shown in foreign countries.

I thought you said yourself above that it was down to what the FA had said. The Sheffield game was not an FA game. Had it been a league game on TV we could have done it. It's because it's an FA Cup game on TV. Both games are/were shown in foreign countries eg Mansfield v Charlton is on beIN Sports HD 6, Sheffield Utd vs Sheffield Wed was on beIN Sports HD 11. http://www.beinsports.com/en/tv-guide

The blame squarely at the feet of the FA. Very poor stuff indeed.

John being ex-army has been referenced quite a few times in the media over the years, the most recent I think being this one
