I will not calm down, we’ve had automatic promotion in our own hands with 5 games to go maybe 4 or 5 times in the 40 years I’ve been watching, so in contrast to my usual behind the sofa curmudgeon outlook, I’m going full irrational tilt at it - raspberries or passed out bust! If I thought that anything I said on an Internet forum had any influence on anything, then Kelly Brook would be cooking me egg and chips now.

I'm assuming 81 points will be enough for automatic promotion, TOP 3 finish.

Current Table
PLD....W.....D....L....PTS....PPG
42.....19....16...7....73.....1.74

Required for 81 points
PLD...W......D.....L....PTS...PPG
4.......2......2.....0......8.....2.00

Based on our current PPG 1.74 we would finish on 80 points, which is usually Play-Offs

For Stags to gain promotion prior to the last game of the season at MK Dons, we most probably would need to win our 3 games, to gain 82 points
Morecambe H
Oldham A
Stevenage H

Then we would need 2 of the teams below to,

Bury (gain no more than 4 points) Newport A, Northampton H, Tranmere A
MK Dons (gain no more than 6 points) Notts Co A, Port Vale H, Colchester A
Tranmere (gain no more than 7 points) Forest Green H, Lincoln A, Bury H

Whilst unlikely, it is possible ;)

Shame we are having to think about the play offs which does look likely if we lose one or 2 now and MK/Bury or Tranmere win a couple.

Exeter at home is always problem for us so don't want them in the play offs.
Really tight league and not much margin for error at all for any of the teams.
Worried if it does go to the wire as the big away games with big expectations have been bad days out for us so far... save Exeter.

We've beaten Exeter 5-3 on aggregate this season.

We've a better or equal record to all sides in the playoffs at present

MK 1-1 home = 1-1
Tranmere home 3-0 away 0-0 = 3-0
FGR home 2-0 away 1-1 = 3-1
Exeter home 1-2 away 4-1 = 5-3

Hopefully we get automatic though.

The remit for this season is promotion - I wouldn't like the playoff route - losing in the playoffs wouldn't be a successful season.

Onto Morecambe on Friday, come on boys!

Your point still stands, but FGR at home was 1-0.

Not as unlikely as you might think. Bury could quite easily lose at Newport, Tranmere unlikely to win at Lincoln, and then they can't both win match 3, so either one or the other (possibly both) wouldn't reach the targets you have stated.
If Colchester win their next 2 games (Grimsby and Yeovil) then they will still be in with a shout of the playoffs so could be a tough one for MK.

I genuinely think that if we win the next 3 games then promotion will already be secure before the MK Dons game.

I agree Dave, if we win our next 3 games I think we'll be promoted.

Alternatively, prior to the last game of the season, over the next 2 games, we need to better MK Dons total by 3 points OR better Bury total by 2 points ;)

You're forgetting that if we only get 3 points fromthe next 2 games it could bring Tranmere back into play if they win both games as they would then be only 2 points behind us. :o

On a positive note though, Lincoln's last 3 games are all against playoff chasing teams so the title chase isn't over yet if we can win all 3. ;)

Who’d have thought that the Oldham away fixture would have had so much significance? Hats off to Sky Sports, eh?

I fear it will all come down to the MK Dons game with us needing a win or draw to avoid the playoffs. Let's hope in that situation MK Dons are already promoted and not bothered.

Great day if we are both promoted by then.

Bury have been falling apart in recent weeks. One more loss for them and we only need 4 points to secure promotion with our GD advantage over both Bury and Tranmere. Hopefully we can pick those up in the next 2 games and enjoy a promotion party at MK where the only thing beimg decided is which order we finish inthe promotion places.
Having said that, we could stil be title chasing if we win the next 2 games !!

MK Dons & Bury have 2 games at home, whereas we just have the one game at home.

The Oldham game is massive. Win that and we will have one hand on the big prize. Lose or draw it could push us into the play off's.

The home game against Stevenage isn't a foregone conclusion. We definitely need the 3 points against Oldham.

10th placed Stevenage v 7th placed Exeter is a big game tomorrow, only 2 points between them, so if they win/draw it maybe a massive game for The Boro at Stags.

Probably, better for Stags if Exeter win at Stevenage tomorrow, leaving The Boro with less to play for.

If the players keep their nerve we will be ok.

I would start with the same team as we did on Friday.

I'm hoping Tranmere beat Lincoln so they have something to play for against Bury otherwise they might start resting players for the play offs. It will also keep our title hopes alive.

Even if Tranny lose tomorrow they'll probably still need points v Bury to confirm their play-off place.

Win today and defeat for Bury will put us “up”z 5 points gap with 6 to play for and a much better goal difference

Fully expecting both Bury and MK Mcdonalds to win today, so three points at Oldham will be massive. IF, that happens I think a win over Stevanage would be enough as it s harder to see both Bury ( at Tranmere) and MK ( at Colchester ) both winning on Saturday.

Colchester could well do us a big favour as a result at home to MK could still keep them in it.

How much more bum twitching can this season get :o
