In the case of Angol we don't know how much he was signed for and how much we sold him for.

My GUESS is that we paid less than 150k for him, and hopefully got that back or if not 200)
k. Although did JR say he turned down two 300k bids for Rose and Angol?

We are still lumbered with all the transfer listed players (except Digby, who might have had the most to offer, in terms of squad cover). Meanwhile Anderson, Butcher, Diamond (did he even attempt to find another club?) and Atkinson (should have remained on the transfer list) are all still at the club and draining the wage bill, whilst not being in the first eleven.
The one player who wants to leave (Danny Rose), no-one is prepared to pay our asking price for. And we might now need to loan him out, and we are unlikely to find a better loanee.
And the one striker who actually could offer the team more this season, and didn't want to leave, and had the same strike rate as Danny Rose (Lee Angol) has been sold.
We are now very light up front.
Unless DF has a better loan player lined up than Danny Rose, we would be better to retain Rose, remind him who pays his wages, and get the best out of him. Because Davies & Walker can only do so much. And it would be unrealistic to expect that neither of them will lose form, or get injured at some point this season (let alone the fact that we will need to utilise a striker in the second half of every game this season, regardless of who starts the game). Our 'third striker' will be crucial to the success of this season.

You forget we brought Sweeney in and didn't lose any key players like Macca or Mal due to crazy offers.
That said, it is remarkable that we have not managed to pass on butcher or AAnderson to anyone. We need to get them out on loan this month.

Yeah that's quite a melodramatic post.
I get the sense that VP and people of this persuasion get a semi on if the club fails, with the prospect of being able to say 'told you, i was right' because they posted some tosh on stagsnet.
What do you know about football again?
DoomMerchant wrote:Lee Angol might well do well at Shrewsbury. Look at their side last season and on paper it looks a very weak League 1 side that ought to struggle in League 2. However, they clearly overachieved by being a well drilled team.
I wouldn't write off Angol being a success there.

Arsene Wengers Coat - you have a very wrong perception about me. And I don't insult people who may have differing views from mine. You would do well to follow suit.

We’ve signed a midfield general, something we’ve missed for years and would have easily helped us to promotion last season, just look at his pass for the Khan goal!
We’ve signed an attacking midfielder who had a wonderful first half of the season last year and already has contributed two good goals this season.
We’ve basically replaced Spencer with Davies, no other words needed and replaced a lazy striker with someone who will probably score 20 goals this season (something none of our strikers achieved last season).
After this transfer window so far, I have trust that DF will bring in what’s required to cover the areas we need. Sorry if this doesn’t blend into the anti DF message others are wanting to post but for once I’m actually really looking forward to my 3 hour drive to Yeovil on Saturday to watch this squad play!

I agree - we have made some good signings this summer. When i said it 'went badly' - i was referring to the 'summary deadline day' (in that we didn't manage to clear out the players that the club wanted to - and that we might be a bit light up front, if Rose goes and anyone gets injured). I think DF is a good manager - and he is starting to win a lot of fans over. Long may it continue.
