For me, the main difference between the team tonight and the team Evans played, was we didn't chase the ball down, with Evans we chased the ball when ever they had it tonight, and if they didn't one of the ugly sisters was down the ear hole, tonight we gave them so much time and space, and all I saw was Futcher pretend to do the butterfly stroke and our new manager stand there & watch.
Now I know not every team is as physical as Lincoln but I hope it gets better than this.

I noticed that too, macca is still doing it but nobody else seems to be.

I also noticed us sitting back a lot more, still early days but we want to win against Colchester .

To be fair it came from there first. Throwing it back was stupid though and he rightly saw red.

Bullied and out muscled for 90 mins. Only bit of football for the entire match we scored.

Their goal long diagonal hoof deep into the box, Logan should have claimed it to take the pressure off.

Bennett sent off for being stronger, wasn't even a foul, lino flagging ref wouldn't have given it.
Diamond should have come on earlier for the aerial bombardment

The ref really wasn't fit to referee, totally out his depth. One bad tackle that King should have gone for but nothing after that and we end up with countless bookings and two off!!!

If that's the Cowleys footballing philosophy, they won't manage much higher

Well that was garbage. Awful football, disorganised, and poor tactics. Lucky to get a point.

Why didn't we change the tactics?

It was obvious to everyone in the ground from the first half hour that we were going to get nowhere with the long ball.

So what did we do for the next hour? Ah yeah exactly the same and got nowhere. We passed properly 3 times, scored a goal, hit one just over the bar and last was squared to rose but was just behind him.

I find it concerning that this wasn't addressed throughout the game and again we were found wanting.

The closing down was lax, Lincoln were better to every 2nd ball, it was poor stuff.

To top it off, on comes Jimmy spencer. Is this lad actually a footballer?

It's hardly the end of the world, but with Accrington winning there's 1 promotion space left, we won't get it playing like this

I couldn't help thinking that the moment we put Spencer on (and then Atkinson) we were just hanging on and hoping to preserve the 1-0 lead without any motivation to score. There was only one team going to score in the last 20 mins. Spencer can't score or hold up the ball effectively.
A sickening result.
How many 1-0 leads have we thrown away in the last few minutes this season? ... Far too many. Gut-wrenching!

That said, we didn't deserve to win tonight. Tactics, effort & performance needs to improve significantly if we are to get promotion this season.

Not sure i agree about us closing down and being lax off the ball. For 75 mins we did that pretty well.

We ran out of steam. Wasted a sub with Spencer and stood off last 15 and invited the direct balls in. Eventually one was gonna hurt us.

If that was the plan - to sit back and hope we can clear it, why not bring Diamond on last 10 mins.

Deserved late goal for Lincoln, although I didn't expect it come because they are toothless upfront.

If we won I probably would think this word is too harsh to use, but that was a raspberries performance by Mansfield. Big players, Rose, King, CJ, Logan were not at the races at all. Thankfully Lincoln seriously lack in quality, hence we nearly won the game but still managed to get a point. I have not looked at anything back yet but it looked like King should of been sent off in the first half for a reckless challenge, also the ridiculous decision to give Lincoln a free-kick from a dive by MacDonald looked like a appalling decision.

Both sending off at the end looked correct to me, it's obviously annoying having something chucked at you but chucking it back by a player is mad, he seemed to refused to leave the pitch after too. He might be in big trouble.

Not a chance of top three on that evidence. Hardly a pass to a player in a yellow shirt, two chances created in 90 minutes, and midfield outplayed for the complete game.
Players have to look at themselves after that, it cannot all be down to the manager at this stage. We have got to fight to get over that line, and some of them shirked that responsibility tonight. Luckily we have another home game to address tonights failings and get back on track.

Not so sure about that, MacDonald played as a (very) defensive midfielder instead of his usual "drive forward" style, every goal kick at least 20yds further forward to Rose, so so so predictable...

Add to that, the whole midfield sat too deep, and not more than two passes between yellow shirts all night. That's down to tactics, or lack of them, so all at the managers feet tonight for me.

Not been this disappointed about a match for a long time. It was like watching a Paul Cox side, I thought we'd grown out of that...

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again but McDonald is never a central midfielder. Takes too many risks and seems incapable of keeping possession with simple passes.

I’m not sure a midfield of Macca, Anderson, Hamilton and a young kid were ever going to compete with the physicality of the Lincoln midfield.

Macca is fine in central midfield but needs a natural sitter (Byrom) along side him.

I think he’d suit a three man midfield. But we I’m not sure we have a striker who can play on his own.
