Look forward to it, it will be my first one having just moved back to the area. Let’s see if any of those Football Managers with opinions on every substitution turn up.

Why ask the question Jimstag? you know the answer will be a resounding no.

They will be at work, school, nursery or at the playground. All the usual excuses will come out.

Should be a good evening thought

The Monday after Coventry at home.
The result could have him walking into a heroes welcome.
Let's hope so

February is a very tough month for us looking at the fixtures. Results will probably dictate what kind of a night this is for Evans.

If we are still this close and only within a few points of the top 3 as we go in to March I will really start to believe we can go up automatic.

There is a clear difference between throwing personal abuse and stating an opinion.

So it's fine for Evans to dish out abuse to a referee but not acceptable for fans to abuse Evans. I'd say both were unacceptable, wouldn't you?

another thread which is gonna turn into a slanging match

this night is a great opportunity to tell evans and raynor that they're doing a great job (lets see in feb eh) and we appreciate what they're doing for our team.

i highly doubt anyone will have the nuts to try and give some stick to evans, though it'll be bloody funny if someone tries

Wow, with that cloth you could cover the table for the feeding of the 5000 :P

It all depends on the level and type of abuse dished out and received. There are many levels, some more acceptable than others. As a ref you know that only too well I guess ;)

Why ask these questions on here?
Mr Evans could you please tell us why.....
You abuse referees
Are not big enough to not listen to abuse from 5 fans out of 3500.
Won't move the dugouts back to bishop street.
Ask him face to face on Monday night.

To me I think the response will be passion to win and the hatred of losing.

I don't like him never have but see a winner at all costs in him.

I suggest getting there early to queue. having been to these things before they get very busy.

With the SSA populating the room for their meeting beforehand, space is limited.

Saying that, the last one was in the KBS, so more room might be in 1861

I think you are mixing up personal abuse with criticism Rob. If Evans shouted personal abuse in public at a referee, I'm sure he'd be sent to the stand without a second's delay.

If we recall what former referee Howard Webb wrote in his book:

"Some bosses were trickier to deal with than others, of course. In my era, the bane of a ref's life was the loud and lairy (although strangely charismatic) Steve Evans - formerly of Rotherham United and Leeds United......(Evans) took a great interest in the world of officiating, which had it's benefit and drawbacks. On the plus side (his) knowledge was so broad that you rarely had to explain a regulation or directive. on the negative side, however, (he'd) persist in haranguing you from the technical area, almost enacting a running commentary of your performance."

... that is not personal abuse.

It all depends on what those 5 fans are saying Chip - shouting and berating Evans is exactly what he should expect and deal with, but i suspect our terrace-terrors are using more than 'change it now Evans!' and reverting to personal insults to really stick the knife in. I'd even hazard a guess they are goading him as much for personal amusement than what's happening in the game. Does anyone sit near enough to know what sort of words / language are used - is it personal, borderline racial, constant, or just something Evans is totally overreacting to?

Either way, perhaps we could appreciate it more if we had someone constantly slag us off for 90 minutes twice a week, and then see how morally justified we are in criticising him? I dont buy this 'its his job' bull - money and years of abuse doesn't make any of us impervious when it's malicious / vitriolic enough to try and incite a reaction, at least in my book. If we were managers I reckon the local butchers would sell out of rump steak in 20 minutes! :P

I have heard Evans said what could be said to be ‘Personal abuse’ many times at referees, most are big boys though and they can take it.

he’s quite sensitive to be honest all considering.

Come on martin dont be so naive to think Evans don't swear at the Ref.
I sit right behind the dug out and hear him swearing at the ref all the time.
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...
