Its been a while since we had an update on Asante.

Training going well in the gym, every day, on the exercise bike.

He feels great he says, very pleased with his progress, feels he is ahead of schedule.

Fingers crossed, he could be back sooner than January, if all goes well.

The quality just keeps on coming

Haha. Yeah, Released by a poor L2 side. I think you need to state what kind of quality. IE, distinctly average quality.

An injured non-league journey man and a slow, non-league journey man. Frightening S&D. Really is.

Asante is probably one of the most injury prone players around at NL level... Youll get 4 games out of him at best.

And they will all be after Easter as he won’t be back before. I hope you’ve got a substitute striker on the bench.

In respect of Miller, Harrogate obviously realised he isn’t League standard as they sent him back down the pit last season. Couldn’t have been any good as Clownty didn’t try to sign him either. Maybe you’re recruiting for 2022/2023 when your local derby will be Alfreton and he finds his level.

And the cheats also have a seat on the board.

More importantly though is the question of whether the season will be completed. It appears that they are planning to end early if they don’t get grants or full crowds are allowed. They won’t even start under the same circumstances.

This raises the real question of promotion to the league and if league clubs should be relegated into an unstable league. If it’s a repeat of last year’s debacle with clubs playing kids the football league need to form a proper plan and state their case early doors.

Chesterfield have a place on the board, and they’re forming an ethics committee.

Big George offered a different role from that of assistant manager. Some players put up for offers, as Rowe needs to balance the books.

Well I suppose it's to be expected now furlough is winding down.

Non-League News
Chesterfield have signed much-travelled striker Stefan Payne, subject to National League approval - their sixth summer signing.

Why do the Spireites need approval from the National League? Has the fax machine broken?
