I’ve never known any set of fans clinging on to attendances more than they do. It’s literally their be all and end all to all their arguments.
Just can’t wait for them to tip up against Halifax.

It wasn’t a nothing game was it though.

Had they lost they would have been out of the playoffs. Still I suppose if they hadn’t collapsed over the line it would have saved their supporters a few bob in a hopeless trip to a thrashing.

To be fair we are talking Chesterfield accounting logic, where 1200 is “virtually 2000”

All the local football teams, from glapwell to pilsley, and chesterfield u14 leagues all had kids for a quid and adults for a fiver,so there attendance was going to be high.. they give away ticket deals like this every home game

All the local schools have had visits from their FITC and Chester the rat mascot for the last few weeks.
Touting tickets around like confetti, and it was kids for a quid and adults a fiver like the post states above.

My lad saw the rat turn up at his school and joked that if you misbehaved, they'd make you go for a detention.

He actually then wanted to go so he could sit with his school mates and laugh as they "got battered" (his words) but the school shifted their allocation quite quickly given the cheap prices.

Cheap tickets £5 and a £1 for kids I think. Still overpriced in my view :o

A home draw just scrapes into the play offs whereas a defeat in the last league of the season sees them outside the play offs. I wonder where I have seen that before.

Yeah but we're just tiny tiny Mansfield, whereas they are a giant mahooosive club with a mahooosive fanbase who rightfully belong in the Championship play off facing down their real rivals Sheff Utd.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

Their ground can accommodate give aways like this as they have more home seats available to fill and can move away fans from behind the goal to the side stand if required. They should be applauded for this marketing scheme as it keeps the ball bouncing whilst they are in the conference waiting room (might be stuck there a while yet  )
Other businesses away from football have to issue deals to get repeat custom (Just had a buy one get one free offer from Toby Carvery for example off peak but forget any offers on a Sunday)
First match : 04.01.1975 home v Cambridge Utd F.A.Cup 3rd Round 1-0 Clarke

Whatever happens on Saturday, we will still be a league club.
They need to win 3 away games in a row to be able to say that.
Bragging rights will still be with us if they don't make it, irrespective of what division we are in next year.
Also, we have had a shot at promotion despite being 23rd in October, whereas they have thrown it away from a very strong position.

They’re deservedly in front
Mandeville should have been sent off
Halifax will find it difficult to play as badly 2nd half

Pretty straight forward win for them.

Imagine having to play (and win) a game for the right to play solihull moors

A bit like last night, it’s easy to forget the lack of quality the conference has, there’s been no side at field mill this season as bad as halifax county and chesterfield.

The moves are so slow and obvious, and the real difference is the quality of the forwards, christ.

Shame for Halifax who usually play some alright football... Pete Wild will be managing in league two next season

very poor teams in the playoffs wouldn't trouble oldham or Scunthorpe at all

They've scored a goal at Stamford Bridge against the European Champions don't you know?
They'll be raffling off raffle tickets for the final.

Please, please, please Solihull give us a reason to crack a smile today. Between you today and the Mariners next week don't let the unthinkable happen.
