The Rovers Cup. It's just a song and there's no rules to say it has to be factually correct. It gets everyone going and has created a great atmosphere home and away this season.

Would you rather something like "Counteh, Counteh, Counteh"?

At least it's factually correct!!! And why would you sing a song that isn't factually correct?! That's just ridiculous. Shall we start singing Champions of Europe too!?

Just a bit of fun, isn't it? These songs aren't factually correct, but don't see why people wouldn't sing them when trying to create an atmosphere, rather than it be like a library:

England's Number 1.
We're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen.

Some of your photographs might make it look like our defence are rapid, but that's not necessarily factually correct, so let's take your camera off you.

Steady on!

I hope this gets sung loud and proud this afternoon.

Really, who cares whether it is factually correct, if it gets the atmosphere going that's brilliant, most of the non singers join in with the clapping.

For clarity it would be a mouthful to get Freight Rover Trophy to fit, Rovers cup is close enough.

"The Rover Cup" fits better than "the Freight Rover Trophy, now called the Johnstone's paint trophy"

Q Block do a great job in creating a fantastic atmosphere which seems to be enjoyed by home and away managers except Darren Moore who was scared of our drum.

Other Old Chants

"Mansfield Boys, We are here"

"We are the nutters, the nutters from Notts."

"It's time to shine your boots up"

Opposition player goes down = Death March and then "Bring On The Dustbin!"

Rampton Rejects

When the Red, Red Robin Goes Bob, Bob, Bobbin' Along

You'll never take the North Stand! (Got that one wrong against Stoke City  )

The late great Trev Hitchcock once told me that they used to sing Donovan's Mellow Yellow at Field Mill.

Donovan's Colours would be a great chant

"Amber is the colur of our true love's shirts
In the morning.....when we rise
In the morning.....when we rise
That's the time.
That's the time.
We love the Stags"

They could easily change “the rovers cup” to “the FRT”. It would sound better and it would be factually correct ;)

Oldies are the best.

I used to hate singing
"You're gonna get your clucking heads kicked in",
As it always meant the other team'd scored :D
Theirs not to reason why
Theirs but to do and die
Into the valley of Death
