I'm predicting Stags will need 81 points to finish in the TOP 3.

Current Table
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.10....6...1...3....19....1.90

Required for 81 points
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.36...20..2..14....62...1.72
.36...19..5..12....62...1.72
.36...18..8..10....62...1.72
.36...17..11..8....62...1.72
.36...16..14..6....62...1.72
.36...15..17..4....62...1.72
.36...14..20..2....62...1.72

Stags current PPG 1.90 would total 87 points over a season.

Good start to the season, especially as Stags have only scored the 1st goal of the game in 3 of the 10 games.

Today, was the 3rd time Stags have won after going behind.

4 of the next 6 games at home.

Wing back (both sides) we've got Macca and Gordon.

Centre back we have Hewitt, Harbottle, Hawkins, Perch and O'Toole.

It's not enough. Unless we can go injury free for the rest of the season.

I suspect if there’s a defensive injury crisis like you suggest, we’ll just switch to a four.

We didn't at Doncaster after Perch was injured. Don't forget, this "crisis" has already happened thankfully it was only for a short period and the game being called off last week helped too. Not sure how long we'll get away with it for, hopefully until January! Gazza and Yorkie are, of course, right and are far from the only ones to have called for the signing of a CB prior to the window closing.

True

Although it is also entropy possible Cloughy was on the lookout/trying to sign, but unsuccessful

We know how topsy-turvy the transfer market can be, & Nige is renowned for keeping his cards close enough to rub the hairs off his chest! :P

So, we have TEN points more after 10 games played than we had last season (19 as against 9)

Almost a quarter of the season has gone already, and I know it’s only a few points but there’s about 4 points difference between top half and bottom half. It does feel this year that there’s less quality in the league, there’s probably 5 clubs nailed on for Top 7 already.

Agreed, I’ll be absolutely amazed if Orient, Northampton, Salford, us and Bradford don’t make up 5 out of the top 7.

Current Table
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.11....6...2...3....20....1.82

.35...20..1..14....61...1.74

.35...18..7..10....61...1.74
.35...17..10..8....61...1.74
.35...16..13..6....61...1.74
.35...15..16..4....61...1.74
.35...14..19..2....61...1.74

Stags current PPG 1.82 would total 84 points over a season.

Still on course for the TOP 3.

5 games unbeaten.

4 of the next 6 games at home.

I thought the atmosphere, for a night game, was a bit subdued last night.

When we’ve had any two goal lead under Clough in the league we’ve won 25 out of 28.

Dont aim to high or to low, keep taking a step forward and you will achieve your goal
After sacking Coughlan relegation was in the air.
clough came in and we finished 16th.
.After a horrific start when alarm bells were wringing, we improved and ended up at Wembley, 16th to a Wembley play off final, a big jump that.
Play offs again looks good it shows we have become a top 2 team looking for that final push.
7th is positive 6th is a improvement which we need.
2 more transfer windows and we should have a cracking team.
Clough s contract runs out at the end of this season
, so do we stick or twist, if he leaves once more the club will be in a better position to when he came.
And he will take Akin with him, so its not all bad.
Bad game wrong result but one more point towards that magical 50

If we don’t go up this season in my eyes this would be a failure.

We need to be top 7 by jan and then hopefully sign a couple of cracking players and then push for top 3

Not particularly is it?

We’re weak in 2 positions and everyone knows it.

It was exposed by not putting the game to bed on friday, and it was exposed by lack of experience of a central defender on friday. It cost us 2 points.

You suggest frequently that you believe clough was unlucky not to get the desired players last minute despite having 4 months to find them.

In my job (clearly not football) if i’ve 4 months to reach a target and it doesn’t go well on the last day i’d be rightfully asked to explain to what had caused such negligence and why it wasn’t addressed before the last minute when you’ve had so long to address the issue.

I hate typing such against a manager i’ve such respect and admiration for, and also feel we’re genuinely lucky to have him, but let’s be clear here - our transfer windows under him have been average, being polite.

We’re struggling with the same issues we had this last season and we still have them now, the reason i’m annnoyed as if it were addressed i genuinely think it would be the difference between top 3 and the alternative

Totally agree with the last paragraph. Quality centre half and striker and the automatics would be well within reach. But I fear it will be like last season and hopefully the play offs.

.34...19..1..14....58...1.71

.34...16..10..8....58...1.71
.34...15..13..6....58...1.71
.34...14..16..4....58...1.71
.34...13..19..2....58...1.71

Stags current PPG 1.92 would total 88 points over a season.

On course for the TOP 3.

6 games unbeaten.

4 of the next 5 games at home.

19 goals in 12 games, Stags are 3rd top scorers.

At half-time Stags have only been winning in 1 out of the 12 games, which is quite a change from last season when Stags were a 1st half team, this season very much a 2nd half team.

Salford are on rate of 92 pts a season and are only fourth, do you still think 81 pts will be enough for 3rd place.

Yes, the PPG of the top 3 usually reduces as the season progresses.

Our best 15 minute sector is just after half time with an 8-1 goal margin. All the other sectors for us are pretty even with a goal either way. Good halftime work from Clough either tactically or what he says.

The next 8 games represent a really big opportunity for us to get through our tough patch with a barren squad while still picking up a very solid haul of points.

No opponents in the top 5, only 2 in the top half and 4 of the bottom 5. 5 games from 8 at home. We could easily be looking at 19/20 points while we are still getting bodies back.
