Seen this on twitter, think its a great idea to show some support towards Darell considering everything he has been through, and shows class from us stags fans in the face of some unsavoury football scenes recently.

It’s a lovely idea. It’s obviously a huge game next Saturday but some things are so much more important than football. I think it would a nice gesture to let Darrell know that his home town hold him in such high regard and that our thoughts are with him and his family. I can’t begin to imagine the pain they are going through.

Huge credit to Port Vale too as it sounds like the support they’ve provided to Darrell has been exemplary.

My thought on this is whether it is appropriate.
I knew that there had been a family tragedy and that Clarke had asked for his privacy to be respected. He has come back to work and I do wonder whether he would want such a public marking of this event.

I know I have form on this in that I don't like the call for us all to clap on this minute to mark X or Y but this is also about whether it is in line with what his club have said about it

That’s a very good point GFB, it would nice to show our support to Darrell but if in fact that was something he wouldn’t want or find helpful right now then we should be careful of that. Like you say it needs to be what Darrell would want.

Good point GFB but he wouldn’t take the gesture in anyway negatively imho. I think he’d be proud to be a Stag.

Just because we want to show him we support him, it doesn't mean that he wants it when we want to give it to him - it's not about us. I've had personal issues in the past and the worst thing about it was well intentioned people dragging me back into thinking about it, at times when I wasn't thinking about it - it must be incredibly triggering for him, I imagine that being able to go to work helps him immensely to take his mind off it. I'm sure there are other ways to show our support.

It's very well intentioned & it's classy of Stags fans to be thinking of an opposition manager, but as Gearge & Marky say, I'd be a little uneasy that it might end up raking up bad memories for DC.

Agreed, just applauding him would show appreciation.

I agree that it would be a lovely gesture, but it could be interpreted as unfair to distract him during the game. I hope someone more imaginative than me can come up with another suggestion that would show him how much we respect him - and also that the vast majority of Stags fans are appreciative, compassionate and generally decent people.

We don’t GFB. Maybe it is. Maybe the gesture is enough hey. I suppose it could be completely the wrong time and place.

Hi all,

I've spoken to Darrell's brother, who has told me that he would love the gesture.

I'll now leave it in your capable hands to make it happen!

Cheers,
Ben

Did they also agree to letting a goal in on the 7th minute in return?

I didn’t think he’d take it any other way, but it’s better to broach the subject with family first.

If you watched Darrell’s post match interview he openly talks about how tough it’s been and also mentions playing us and that his eldest daughter was born in Mansfield.

Lovely. He's one of our own.

We should sing that too in my opinion.

Was a good player for us and I think he will end up back here one day.

It sounds very tragic but I don't know what happened to Darrell's family member, if it is not the right place to ask then please don't reply. Agree on a big welcome for him on Saturday afternoon

Darrell and Lee Peacock used to be good mates, I bumped into them both in Magaluf a couple of summers on the spin. My fondest memory of Darrell was the 30 yard screamer he scored in the final game of the season against Cardiff, when we beat them 3-0. That game was also notable for the Bish being where the away fans were housed, when the final whistle went all of the kids at the bottom of the West Stand hared onto the pitch only to be faced with 200 burly boyos hurtling towards them.
