If that's the case, do we have any grounds for an appeal?
No, it's a stonewall red card, cassells is wrong.

clearly no grounds for appeal as Rob says. Walker knew he'd been stupid straight away and put his shirt over his head knowing there was only going to be one outcome well before the red card came out.

Problem you have is with verbal you can claim you were talking to yourself because you are annoyed. He directed the middle finger straight at the lino. kinda removes all doubt.

It's a tough one, since I realised I wasn't good enough to play for the Stags I became a ref and been doing it for just about 25 years, now back at Level 5 but also observe Level 3 & 4's. I like to think I ref as a player so am very lenient with dissent and have, compared to many refs, a very high tolerance level. However, there is still a line, that line is this sort of thing. I've done 30 games so far this season, had just one red card, for this sort of offence (it was a verbal telling me to something off). I get football fans don't like refs, it is pathetic, but I'm also a fan so I get it - all I'd say is just watch a game without a ref and you will very quickly appreciate the neutral, even if he/she is wrong sometimes. This weekend thousands of games were not covered by a neutral ref, treat them like you do, they won't bother and so you have bias Dad instead, Today you saw a very good team of officials, if I were observing him he'd have received a very high mark.

What are your thoughts on the penalty appeal after Pearce was dragged to the ground during a corner kick (2:38 on the extended highlights)? Ref was on the edge of the area and the assistant on that side had an unimpeded view.
