UPDATE FROM JOHN & CAROLYN / SEASON TICKET NEWS
7th August 2020 19:28

Update from the owners
mansfieldtown.net, 29 July 2020

An update from owners John & Carolyn Radford:

To our magnificent supporters,

It feels like an age since we were last together at One Call Stadium and since that time - in mid-February - many of us have faced a range of unprecedented challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic which continues to affect the world-over.

We were greatly saddened to learn of the loss of some of our supporters to the virus and our sincere condolences remain with the loved ones of those who we have lost, both within our fan base and our community.

To those of you who have felt a sense of loneliness, health worries or financial uncertainty, you are close to our hearts and we greatly look forward to welcoming you back to One Call Stadium when we are allowed to do so, with the necessary safety provisions in place.

Our letter to you today is the first significant update from the club since One Call Stadium closed on 17 March.

Ideally, we would have liked to be been able to provide an update sooner. However, as you will appreciate, the pandemic has presented so many different challenges and permutations, that any update prior to this would have proved arduous without any element of clarity.

Following the welcome news from the EFL of the new season’s start on 12 September, many of you will be wondering when you are allowed back inside football stadia to support your beloved club. The simple answer is that we do not yet know at this present time. We are receiving regular communication from the EFL, who we appreciate are also entering unchartered waters. As soon as there is news on this front, we will communicate it with you via our official media channels.

In a climate still of some uncertainty, the longer we advance without supporters inside One Call Stadium, the greater the challenges.

Since our last home match, 165 days have passed without significant income to our football club.

Whilst we have, and always will, endeavour to support the club financially to the best of our capacity, no club owner is a bottomless pit of everlasting funds.

During this period, our contracted players have received 100% of their wages, and essential bills and other outgoings have also been paid. We have also made seven exciting new signings as we look to build a capable squad for the new season, and to ensure that we are as competitive as possible for the new campaign.

The financial impact on football clubs as a result of the pandemic has received much publicity and we have known for some time that it would be significant. Wherever possible, we have taken steps to mitigate this impact.

Consequently, to ensure that the club not only survives, but prospers, both in the short and long term, we are releasing season tickets on Monday 03 August for the 2020-21 season. Due to prospective capacity restrictions, season tickets will go on sale for existing season ticket holders only. The ticket office at One Call Stadium will be open from 10am until 5pm from Monday to Friday thereafter and the club’s telephone lines will also be accessible.

Should matches be played behind closed doors, season ticket holders for the 2020-21 season will receive a complimentary voucher code to watch home first team matches on iFollow Stags - the club’s online digital channel - until One Call Stadium can open its doors to supporters.

In the past few months, we have been greatly heartened to receive a number of messages from season ticket holders who have told us that they will be declining a pro-rata refund for the matches that were not played last season.

To those of you who have already made this pledge, our deepest thanks for such incredible selflessness.

This outstanding act of generosity would significantly aid our club in this challenging period, if replicated by the majority of our fan base.

SEASON TICKET 2019-20 OPTIONS FOR CANCELLED MATCHES:

With that noted, season ticket holders, including seasonal hospitality members, can receive a full pro-rata refund for the six cancelled home games in the 2019-2020 season. A pro-rata refund can be calculated by:

- Telephoning 01623 482 482 (option 1)
- E-mailing ticketoffice@mansfieldtown.net (Please provide full name, membership number, preferred stand, block, row and seat)

For clarity, season ticket holders from 2019-20 have one of four options:

2) Permit Mansfield Town Football Club to retain monies previously paid for the six cancelled matches in 2019-20 to help keep the club sustainable in exchange for six matchday ticket vouchers, to be used either in person or for a guest for home league and/or home cup games in 2020-21 (to be used when supporters are allowed back inside One Call Stadium)

3) Exchange monies on a pro-rata basis for cancelled six matches in 2019-20 by way of a pro-rata six match discount on new season ticket

4) Request a full refund from the club on cancelled matches in 2019-20, by 11 September, via the above methods

Transactions for refunds can only be processed on debit or credit card. In the interim, cash refunds will not be available.

Some of our staff remain on furlough and therefore your patience will be appreciated.

We are unable to sell Quarry Lane Memberships at the current time due to potential capacity restrictions.

Meanwhile, the club shop, as well as Sandy’s Bar & Kitchen, will remain temporarily closed until further notice. The online shop, however, remains accessible at http://www.stagsclubshop.com

On the football front, our new director of football David Sharpe has been working closely with manager Graham Coughlan as we look to build a squad which is worthy of representing you on the field in 2020-21.

To be as competitive and sustainable as possible next season, now is the time - possibly more than at any other point in our history - where we must rally together as one united club, whenever feasible or possible.

We genuinely appreciate that these are extraordinary times for everyone and such financial commitments may not be possible.

Mansfield Town Football Club is a passion for us all, one which enriches and excites our lives. Together, as part of our football family, we can ensure that our club is sustainable as we advance through these challenging times.

Our heartfelt thanks are extended to you for your magnificent support.

We cannot wait to welcome you back to One Call Stadium, whenever the time comes.

Wishing you and your loved ones well.

COYS!!!
