Fri 7 Feb 2020, ccfc.co.uk

Coventry City have appointed John Dempster as the Club’s new Lead Professional Development Phase Coach.

The appointment sees Dempster take charge of City’s Under 18s side.

The former Mansfield Town Manager and Academy Manager at The Stags begins his work at the Sky Blues Academy with immediate effect.

36-year-old Dempster enjoyed a playing career which included representing Scotland at Under 21 level and spells at Rushden & Diamonds, Oxford United and Kettering Town plus others, before hanging up boots following a spell at Mansfield in 2015.

Following his retirement, he was appointed Academy Manager at Mansfield in 2015, having a spell as caretaker manager in February 2018. After a successful period at the Academy, he was appointed Mansfield’s first team manager in May 2019, leaving the role at the League Two side in December 2019.

Academy Manager Dan Bolas said:

“We are delighted to welcome John to the Club and his new role with us. He has a great level of skills and experience that he will bring to us, and we look forward to working closely with him to continue the progress of our young players in the important Professional Development phase of their time at the Academy.”

There will be an interview with Dempster in Tuesday’s matchday programme, and our website next week.
