Port Vale hurdle as Mansfield Town feel the pressure
chad.co.uk, by JOHN LOMAS, Tuesday 03 December 2019

Mansfield Town head to Port Vale for tonight's Leasing.com Trophy second round game with under-pressure boss John Dempster determined to get Stags back on the winning trail.

Two successive defeats have left Stags 15th in League Two and out of the FA Cup and with in-form Cheltenham the visitors on Saturday, Dempster said: “We need two wins from the next two games so that brings pressure obviously.

“Tonight we will make some changes to the team that started at Shrewsbury but we will still be fielding a strong side.

“Some of the players that didn't feature and were on the bench will play and there will be three or four of our U21s involved.

“We want to win it and progress. Clubs start to take this competition more seriously once you get into the knockout stages.

“Although still a way off, a Wembley final is always a nice carrot at the end and it's more money into the club's coffers for every round you get through.”

Striker Danny Rose is still out injured, but Dempster said: “Danny is coming on nicely and he'll probably be back training by the end of this week.”

Meanwhile, Mansfield have sent young third-choice keeper Aidan Stone out on loan to Widnes.

The Vikings are currently struggling in Northern Premier League Division One North West.

Dempster said: “We wanted to get Aidan out before the New Year for a few games.

“He will still be training with us every day. The deal allows him to go and play on a Saturday.

“We have high hopes for him.”

Steve Hymas on facebook, 03Dec2019 afternoon

It gets to the point where you wonder if the town really wants a football club at all. All we get is shit for spending our own money on someone else’s pleasure .
If it ain’t the manager ,it’s the staff,it’s the stewards,it’s the ticket office etc .
It’s just becoming a pain in the arse to be honest .
We don’t get paid for putting up with this shit .
Just give me £2.5 million and you can have my shares ,training facility and my place on the board ,the lot .
PM me if your interested.

It’s criminal how the club has been turned on .
Not going anymore etc etc .
If you think it’s not about money then try running a club without any .
Who will pay for a new manager and back room staff .
I tell you now it’s not the tooth fairy .

(in reply to a specific comment):
I’m not having a go at you pal .Its just a negative spin is put on everything we try and do .It will kill the club eventually .
Other managers see it .Potential signings see it .Anybody with an ounce of common can see it .
Anyway I’m off to Vale tonight .

(in reply to another specific comment):
if you want the honest truth it was not my idea to appoint Dempster .I don’t back him to the hilt but you have to stick by a manager while he is here.
We could have got rid of Flitcroft When he fucked up the first season but we stuck by him while he was here.
We do tend to give managers a fair crack of the whip .Dempster is getting his now .

(in reply to "are you saying Dempsters job is safe?"):
No it’s not .No manager is safe but sacking after sacking helps no-one.

(in reply to "so are the rumours true he has the next 2 games"):
I am saying a bit too much now so I’d best leave the conversation

(in reply to "think you just answered it mate see you at port vale"):
thumbs up emoji

(in reply to comments about Flitcroft):
we got same under the last manager as this one .Fuck all !
In his first season it was impossible not to get at least a play off place .
In the second he only had to win one of the last 3 .
We were shocking and won fuck all .
And at what point were we meant to accept staff bullying and spending thousands on training when we had our own facility .
It could only go one way .

(in reply to "why not get another manager now before it’s to late?"):
Who says we won’t ? But we like to give a manager a fair crack of the whip and we are not up to half way .
If that were the case we should have relieved flitcroft of his duties at the end of the first season .But we stuck in there .
It all ended in tears and the biggest letdown of my time at the club at MK .
