Sky Bet League Two: January Manager of the Month Nominations

The January nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month Award are as follows:

David Artell (Crewe Alexandra)

Slowly but surely his young side is beginning to produce the football he preaches and achieve results. Alex climbed into mid-table after picking up 10 points from five games. The highlight was a 1-0 win at high-flying MK Dons.

Danny Cowley (Lincoln City)

Yet another nomination for Cowley whose Lincoln side does not do poor months. It is a tribute to his management skills that his players respond to every setback with another surge forward - witness nine points from five unbeaten games.

David Flitcroft (Mansfield Town)

His side was the busiest of any in League Two in January, playing seven league games which yielded 13 points and 11 goals. Flitcroft cleverly juggled his squad accordingly as Mansfield moved into second place in the table.

Ryan Lowe (Bury)

What entertainment at Gigg Lane this season. It stems from Lowe, who refused to grind out results at home to promotion rivals MK Dons and Lincoln. Instead, the games ended 4-3 and 3-3, respectively, as Bury collected 13 points from five games.

David Flitcroft on his third Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month nomination in a row:
Thur 7 Feb 2019

“It’s called the Manager of the Month and I’ve been nominated a few times now. But I believe it’s a club-led thing when you see all the work behind the scenes.

“The club's doing things right ... the offers the club's put out.

“I'm not just saying it because he's here (looks at Mark Stevenson) but some of the ... the media staff - we've got a fantastic media staff.

“I've got a brilliant support staff.

“The chairman and Carolyn support me with everything. Greg Abbott's come in and done fantastically well in 6-8 weeks. We've had a great window.

“There are a lot of things right at this football club and the back-up the manager gets here is phenomenal. I felt we need someone to take a little bit of pressure off with the agents and I went with that plan to John and Carolyn and they got it straight away. Some owners wouldn't see it.

“Now we've got to commit to getting the training ground right for elite purposes and that's the next stage of what we're trying to do.

“The players have put the work in and done everything we have asked them to do.

“So the nominations over the past three months are for the players, who have put the work in, the staff, the club and the supporters and it really is for me it is a club recognition.”

Martin Shaw, Tue Feb 05, 2019:
Cowley 9 points from 5 games. It won't be him I don't think.
Flitcroft 13 points from 7 games.
I guess the winner will be Lowe with 13 points from 5 games.
