STAGS TO APPEAL AGAINST CARDS
4th March 2003 11:31

Stagsnet has learned that the Stags are to appeal against both Red cards issued by referee Paul Taylor on Saturday. Rhys Day received a straight Red card early in the 2nd half for an aerial challenge and player-manager Keith Curle received his marching orders for a late challenge on Wayne Andrews. The performance of Mr Taylor has been widely criticised in the national media and by both Oldham Athletic and Mansfield Town. Craig Disley has assisted with Oldham's appeal to have the red card awarded to veteran striker David Eyres rescinded. If the appeal is unsuccessful then Day will miss three matches and Curle will miss four having passed the 5 bookings stage in addition to his automatic 3 match suspension for the dismissal.

The Stags called on the services of a local referee to view the video evidence prior to making the appeal.
