EVANS ON TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY / TURN DOWN OFFER
4th February 2017 10:37

Gaffer's final message to Stags' fans on Deadline Day
mansfieldtown.net, 31st January 2017

http://www.mansfieldtown.net caught up with the gaffer just before he left the stadium at 9pm to gather his thoughts on a hectic transfer Deadline Day.

The gaffer confirmed that there would be no more incoming signings when speaking exclusively to the club's official website.

Both he and the chairman wanted to inform the Stags’ faithful at the earliest opportunity that there would be no additional incoming acquisitions.

“The chairman, chief executive and everyone at the football club has been wholly supportive in what has been a hectic time both recently and since I joined the football club, where no hour has been left unchecked as we endeavour to put together a team of which everyone can be proud at the One Call Stadium.

"Signing a player in today's market is a complex issue with a number of factors. A few hours ago we agreed everything with Alfie Potter but we had to wait patiently to ensure he passed his mandatory medical, which he thankfully passed with flying colours."

The manager did, however, inform us of the possibility of departures from One Call Stadium to clubs in the National League, who are exempt from the January transfer window.

The manager added: “I’m currently in discussions with three to four clubs in the National League who are keen to take three of our players.

“In the next 24 hours, I will be sitting down with the players concerned and giving them the opportunity of securing some first team football or staying inside our club to compete for a place in the team.

“At all times I will be honest with each individual; this I have portrayed since I have walked into the football club. So the players will get honesty and they can make an informed decision for their own careers.

“Following those discussions, if any of those players wish to leave, we will try and make the deal happen. On the other hand, if they wish to stay and compete for a place, they will be given the utmost respect and every opportunity to break into the team."

In his closing remarks before leaving the building, the gaffer said: “I must also acknowledge the staff behind the scenes who often go unmentioned, but for me they are the real linchpins on a day like today.

“To our supporters, thank you for your patience today and we look forward to seeing those who will travel to Barnet on Saturday.”
