KEY SIGNING FOR PICS
Rushall Olympic website, 26/11/2016

THE PICS have pulled off a coup with the signing of hot-shot, Karl Hawley, following his recent departure from the coaching staff at Mansfield Town.

The 34 year-old scored 30 goals for Stourbridge last season to win the Golden Boot and was also named as the Evo-Stik Premier League Premier Division Player of the Season following some all-action displays.

He progressed through the ranks at hometown club, Walsall, to make one senior appearance whilst also having a fruitful loan spell at Raith Rovers and Hereford United during his time with The Saddlers.

After leaving Banks’s Stadium, he moved on to Carlisle United via a spell at Hednesford Town and it was with The Cumbrians where he career really took off.

Playing his part as Carlisle United made a return to The Football League, he was then top scorer in League Two during 2005/06, firing the club into League One and being top scorer in each of his three seasons up in Cumbria.

His prowess in front of goal earned him a move to Championship outfit, Preston North End, in the summer of 2007.

During his time at Deepdale, he was loaned out to the likes of Northampton Town and Colchester United before making a permanent switch to Notts County for an undisclosed fee.

Spells with Crawley Town, Scunthorpe United, Torquay United and Alfreton Town followed prior to his arrival at Stourbridge in the summer of 2015 which signalled an impressive campaign for him and The Glassboys, and included him scoring in the FA Cup first round victory over Dover Athletic.

He was appointed onto the Mansfield Town coaching staff at the start of the current season.

We welcome Karl to Dales Lane and hope that he has a successful time with The Pics. He is available to make his debut at Buxton this afternoon.

GOALS IN MIND FOR HAWLEY
Rushall Olympic website, 26/11/2016

NEW SIGNING, Karl Hawley, is looking forward to getting back into Evo-Stik Premier League action with The Pics.

The 34 year-old bagged 30 goals last term for Stourbridge on his way to becoming Player of the Year for the division as well as claiming the Golden Boot.

“I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t think I would score goals,” he said after leaving his position on the Mansfield Town coaching staff earlier this month. “I am looking forward to the challenge that’s ahead of me here.

“I know this level and everyone is capable of beating each other. I’m not surprised to see Rushall up there doing so well, and it’s nice to be part of it now.

“It wasn’t the best of starts with the defeat at Buxton; the conditions were awful but we can’t use that as an excuse as we just weren’t at it on the day.

“There’s enough ability here to bounce back in the next game, though.”
