STAGS TO TRAIN AT HEANOR/FLETCHER LOAN TO HEANOR
22nd December 2015 11:19

Adam Murray, 15 Dec 2015
interview on StagsPlayer, on training pitches:

"We're fortunate that we've got good relationships with Rainworth, Clipstone, and local clubs like that.
Because we've only got the one top pitch at the moment (at the One Call Stadium) ... we're still waiting for the training ground to be done, which obviously work is ongoing on ... we have to ask for a helping hand here and there.
Heanor is one of those places where the pitch is in good condition, they allow us to use it once a week.
And we're at Rainworth tomorrow.
And that allows our top pitch to have a breather. So when we do want to use it, it's of a good quality.
Everyone's seen this season, we like to play a certain way, and you can't do that on a parks pitch.
We trying to get the environment as best as we can to allow us to perform on a Saturday at a high level".

Fletcher finds the net on Heanor debut
mansfieldtown.net, 16th December 2015

Teenage striker Dan Fletcher made an instant impact at loan club Heanor Town last night, just 24 hours after linking up with the Derbyshire club.

The 18-year-old scored in the 35th minute in a match which Heanor lost 4-2 against Sporting Khalsa in the League Cup.

Commenting on the loan move, first team coach Richard Cooper said: “We feel the level of football will challenge Dan and it allows him the opportunity to play senior football on a regular basis.”

Fletcher will spend one month with the Lions, who play in the Midland Football League Premier Division.

For the Stags, the front man made his first senior appearance in an FA Cup tie against Cambridge United in December last year, whilst his first senior league outing was in a Sky Bet League Two clash at Burton Albion in January 2015.

A few brief notes by Martin:
(snipped)

- talks about the top pitch being great at the moment, the best it's ever been, which is helping our play on the floor, and even though Mez is doing his best with it, we're seeing a turn in it. Challenge coming up as weather worsens. If you're training on dog poo park you can't get that standard of play. So we're looking at the moment for somewhere we can get a day's training which will give that a day's break. And the pitch itself is the best it's ever been.
