NEW PLAYERS IN?
15th January 2003 21:05

Stagsnet has learned that two new players are on the verge of joining the club. First is 28 year old left back Richard Edghill, currently at Wigan Athletic, who made over 200 appearances for Manchester City before moving to Wigan Athletic in October. The second player is believed to be 23 year old Sheffield United defender Ben Doane who has made 6 appearances in the Sheffield United first team this season.

Annanova.com (Oct 02): Wigan manager Paul Jewell has signed former Manchester City defender Richard Edghill on a non-contract basis. The 28-year-old has been without a club since being released by Kevin Keegan at the end of last season. Edghill made more than 200 appearances for City, but Jewell has now given the defender a chance to restart his career. Jewell told the club's official website: "We've signed him on non-contract forms for now and it gives him a chance to impress and put himself in the shop window. We'll see how it goes and take things from there."

It is not yet known whether these signings are loan deals or permanent moves - check out Stagsnet or mansfieldtown.net tomorrow for any further updates.
