"AN EVENING WITH..." RETURNS - FERGUS BELL

The series of "An evening with..." hosted by Mark Stevenson, is back underway on Monday nights at the One Call Stadium.

Video available at http://www.player.mansfieldtown.net/latest-news/article/4183827 transcription extract from An Evening with Fergus Bell, 29Sep2014 Fergus Bell: "I got a phonecall from the gaffer and he had obviously spent a lot of time on thinking about how he wanted to play this year, and the type of players he wanted to get in, and it was a lot more specific, and everyone had a job. He said I wanted a midfield player that can do this, a right sided central defender that can do this, and I want you to be a piece in the jigsaw. And that was really appealing. It was really refreshing to hear a manager, ... rather than just sign players because they've played well, ... it was because he knew exactly what type of player he wanted, and if that player didn't fit into that system I don't think he would have taken them on, especially as our club doesn't have the resources of some of the other clubs in this division. So that was the way he had to go this season. The challenge here was very appealing." ------------------- |
