Gannon praises never-say-die Stags

Stags assistant boss John Gannon praised his side's never-say-die attitude this afternoon as they twice came from behind to beat Stockport 4-2 and move off the bottom of Division Two at last.
"Our lads don't know when they are beaten which is a wonderful characteristic to have," he said.
"The energy in that midfield was unbelievable and sometimes you have to tell them to stand still a moment.
"We were outstanding in the first half. We ripped them to pieces at times going forwards and we knew they couldn't hold us for another 45 minutes.
"We were disappointed to come in 2-1 down at half time to an own goal and the manager giving away a penalty. But we didn't feel sorry for ourselves and think it wasn't our day.
"We never even talked about getting a draw. We just believed we could win as we knew Stockport couldn't take much more and in the end we could have won by more than we did.
"It was always going to be a day for attackers in that mud as it was hard for defenders to keep their feet as they twisted and turned."
