FORMER LUTON AND SOUTHPORT MAN JOINS TO END OF SEASON
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has strengthened his squad by bringing in former Luton Town and Southport midfield man Godfrey Poku (pictured) on loan to the end of the season from Mansfield Town.
He began his career with St Albans City in the 2009/10 season before moving to Luton Town where he made 19 appearances.
Whilst at St Albans he attracted interest from Swansea City and also had trials with Reading, Leyton Orient and Southend United.
He was loaned back to St Albans for a month and then on to Southport for the 2011/12 season where he made 22 appearances.
After joining Mansfield Town in 2012, he went back out on loan to Southport where he made 32 appearances in the 2012/13 campaign.
Poku, 23, will be with the Reds until April 27th inclusive and will wear squad number 23.

Poku joined the Stags from Luton Town in June 2012.
A defensive-minded player who likes to break up play, Poku earned many plaudits during a loan spell at Southport in the 2011/12 campaign.
The 23-year-old played an integral role in marshalling the Sandgrounders’ midfield as they narrowly missed out on reaching the Conference Premier play-offs.
Originally from London, Poku made just nineteen appearances in two-and-a-half years at Kenilworth Road and also spent time on loan at St Albans City.
Ironically, it was with the Saints where Poku began his football career; making his competitive debut against Weymouth in September 2009.
Poku spent the 2012/13 campaign on loan at Southport, and made his debut for Mansfield on in October in a goalless draw at Bury and has totalled five game to date, scoring once.
