Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox has emerged as an early contender to replace David Weir at Sheffield United.

Cox, 41, is highly regarded after winning the Conference title last season and guiding Mansfield to fifth place in League Two.
Chairman John Radford has backed him to guide the club to the play-offs this season and his reputation is strengthened by stats that reflect a 75percent win rate for games managed since January 1 and 55percent win rate from 380 games managed overall.
Other names also under consideration are Nigel Clough, Michael Appleton, Mike Phelan, Tony Pulis and former boss Neil Warnock.
