Cox pulls off coup with McGuire signing
mansfieldtown.net 13th May 2013 Paul Cox has fought off interest from a number of clubs to capture highly-rated midfielder Jamie McGuire. After putting pen to paper, the 29-year-old told us: “I’ve known Paul (Cox) for a while, from my days at Cammell Laird and when he was at Eastwood. What he did last year with Mansfield was incredible. As soon as he showed an interest in me I wanted to tie down the deal.” Paul Cox told us: “I think my relationship with Jamie has aided the signing. He has been coveted by a number of clubs, from non-league and Football League. He is an all-action player who I would describe as ‘a complete winner’.” Jamie McGuire’s contract will officially commence on July 01. Now he has become available. “He was a crowd favourite at Fleetwood and I am sure he will be here. “Jamie is in the Adam Murray mould in that he likes to get about the park. He is one of those players you don’t realise they are there, then they don’t play and you miss them. A product of the Tranmere Rovers youth set-up, McGuire’s contract with Mansfield will officially start on 1st July. ---------------------------- |
