Mansfield Town have sacked manager Stuart Watkiss and his assistant Neil Richardson with immediate effect.
The Stags are currently bottom of the Second Division and suffered their 13th league defeat of the season at Port Vale on Saturday.
Watkiss, a former player with Mansfield, was promoted to the manager's position at Field Mill after Bill Dearden left to take over as manager at Notts County in January.
He initially built upon the successful foundations laid by Dearden and guided Mansfield to promotion from Division Three.
But the Stags have struggled to compete in the higher league.
Watkiss and assistant Richardson were relieved of their duties at a meeting with Mansfield chairman Keith Haslam on Monday morning.
Former Manchester City defender Keith Curle is expected to be announced as Watkiss' successor later on Monday.
