Mansfield Town Chairman John Radford has given his support to under siege manager Paul Cox.

Mr Radford told Mansfield 103.2 that Paul Cox has his “full backing” despite losing 2-1 to Matlock Town last night in the FA Trophy.

“It was a disappointing result but that's football. Me and Paul want to win every game of football we play but last night was just a bad night at the office”.

After the game had finished a Mansfield Town supporter was taken away by the police for an alleged “verbal assault” towards the Stags manager.

Mr Radford though is confident that Cox can turn the situation around.

“We've got a big game in the FA Cup this weekend which I'm looking forward to. I'm sure Paul and the rest of the squad will be able to dust themselves down and put on a good performance come Saturday”.

In his post match interview with Mansfield 103.2, Cox referred to bringing in new players during the January transfer window. When asked about whether he'd support such a move Mr Radford said.

“Nearer the window we'll have sit down and talk about the transfer window. Its not something I can really talk about right now”.
