"There will be a lot of speculation this summer surrounding our better players and we cannot stop speculation at this stage of the season," said Cox. "Matt has had a tremendous season with us and as I said recently, we are in the process of putting together a squad which will improve on our position of third place from last season - to do that we aim to keep our best players. A national news story suggested Preston, along with Burnley, were tracking Green, who is under contract at the One Call Stadium next season.
