The 24-year-old will officially sign until the end of the season on Tuesday 02 January 2012 on a free transfer from Kilmarnock.

Hutchinson wrote his name into the headlines when Middlesbrough swooped for the Nottingham born marksman six years ago, paying a six figure sum for his services from Arnold Town.

He then joined Glasgow Celtic and appeared for the Scottish giants in both SPL and Champions League matches.

Loan spells with Swindon, Dundee and Lincoln City ensued, before a switch to Kilmarnock in the summer.

Hutchinson, who has now completed a successful trial spell with us, said today when speaking to: http://www.mansfieldtown.net: "I'm looking forward to getting my career back on track. I think this will be a good place to be. Paul Cox was a big lure for me in coming here having played under him previously.

"I want to score goals and do a good job for the team," he added

Hutchinson, who has been training at Field Mill, joins former Port Vale midfielder Gary Roberts in signing on the dotted line for the Stags ahead of the New Year's Day match at York City.

However, Hutchinson will not be eligible to play in the match as the paperwork over his move to the Stags was not completed in time.

The 24-year-old will officially sign until the end of the season on Tuesday on a free transfer from Kilmarnock.

Hutchinson told the Stags' official website http://www.mansfieldtown.net: “I'm looking forward to getting my career back on track. I think this will be a good place to be. Paul Cox was a big lure for me in coming here having played under him previously.

Ben Hutchinson has left Kilmarnock to sign for Blue Square Premier side Mansfield Town.

The 24-year-old striker signed a six-month deal with Kenny Shiels' side in the summer after impressing during a trial period.

However he found first-team opportunities limited at Rugby Park due to injury and the form of Paul Heffernan.

The former Celtic, Swindon and Lincoln attacker started in Killie's first SPL match of the season against Dundee United.

In total he made five appearances for the Ayrshire side, scoring his only goal in the 5-0 League Cup win over Queen of the South in September.

Speaking about Hutchinson's likely departure earlier this month, Shiels said: "It has been difficult for Ben to get in so Mansfield could be a good option for him.”

Mansfield are currently ninth in the Blue Square Premier Division with 38 points from 25 games.

In addition to Hutchinson the club have also signed Oxford forward Matt Green and Port Vale midfielder Gary Roberts.
