(ANOTHER) BILLY DEARDEN INTERVIEW
8th November 2002 22:02

Notts County manager Billy Dearden talks exclusively to Notts County MAD ahead of the game against his former club Mansfield Town.

If you would've been offered a new contract at Mansfield, Would you have stayed?

I don't know really. Notts County came for me and I just thought it was a great opportunity to further my career with a bigger club, really. Like you say Mark, not everything has turned out as sweet as I thought it would've done. But having said that, they were in a similar situation to when I was at Mansfield. I turned it around there and hopefully I can turn it around here.

Do you have any sadness for Mansfield's current plight?

You're always sad when you've been at a club like Mansfield, for quite a few years. It was a smashing club. I'm always sorry to see any club who I've been involved with that are struggling. But that wont make it any different to me when we play Mansfield, I'll be looking to get three points one way or another and that's the way it's going to be.
Stuart Watkiss has had a bad time at Mansfield in division two. And some fans at the Mill are calling for his head. Do you think Stuart needs more time as Manager?

Well you're on about answers Mark; I think every Manager needs more time. But you never get more time nowadays. No Managers are given enough time, they need to be given much more time.

What is your scoreline prediction for the game?

I never predict the match scoreline!
