Paul Cox has made his fourth signing within a week in the shape of former Republic of Ireland U21 goalkeeper Shane Redmond.

The 22-year-old shot stopper has again linked up with Paul Cox - whom he played under at Eastwood three years ago.

Redmond, who started his career at Nottingham Forest, has played for Burton Albion and Darlington, and also made over 20 appearances for his country at under 21 level.

He collected a League Two championship winning medal last season with Chesterfield, where he was understudy to Tommy Lee.

After penning a one year deal he told mansfieldtown.net: "It was an easy decision to sign. It's a club that should be in the Football League and hopefully we can be there next season.

"I don't want to sit on the bench for another season. I want to play as many games as I can and hopefully get ahead of Alan [Marriott]. Alan is a fantastic keeper and it will be a challenge to gain the number one jersey, but one which I am ready for."
