PAUL FRANKS HOPING FOR QUICK FINISH IN CRICKET

Franks: Here's hoping for a quick finish so I can watch Stags at Wembley
Paul Franks column, Evening Post, 21 April 2011

I'M gutted I'm missing Mansfield Town's trip to Wembley in early May, just as I did in 1987 – and again cricket is to blame!

I think I was with my dad all those years ago, but I was listening to it in the car and I remember Kevin Hitchcock making the penalty saves.

It was a fantastic day and something I remember very clearly, even if I didn't get to go down to London.

As a Stags fan, I would have loved to have gone down this time and join the 10,000 others who already have tickets, but it's scheduled to be the last day of a four-day Championship game.

The only thing I could hope for is that we get a win inside three days and then maybe I could make a last-minute dash down there! It's a massive incentive for us to do well, that's for sure.

It's been a tough year for the Mansfield team with what has been happening off the pitch, so it would be a great way for them to end the season.

I wish everyone at the club all the best and I'm just hoping they can bring home that silverware
