Paul Ince brought a strong looking Magpies' side to Field Mill boasting a number of trialists and first team players including Sam Sodje, Kevin Smith and Stephen Hunt. Meanwhile, we took the field with Kevin Pilkington in goal, Luke Medley and Danny Mitchley in attack, Ryan Williams, Tyrone Thompson, Kyle Nix and Connor Higginson in midfield and Paul Stonehouse, Kevin Sandwith and Steven Istead in defence alongside South African trialist Rico Carrera. The game provided a good test of fitness against an energetic County team and after watching us have the better of the first half, and look comfortable throughout, Duncan Russell decided to throw on Gary Silk, Ashley Cain, Louis Briscoe, Adam Murray, Paul Connor and Neil Collett for a run out after the break. County took the lead against the run of play on 72 minutes before we drew level through a fantastic strike from Murray near the edge of the box, which took a slight deflection, four minutes later.
