Flying winger Adam Smith and young striker Danny Mitchley have signed new and improved contracts until May 2012, we are delighted to announce.

Smith, 25, joined us in the summer from York City and has made an instant impression during his 21 appearances, scoring four goals.

Former Blackpool frontman Danny Mitchley, 21, has bagged two goals in five games since making his debut in November.

Manager Duncan Russell said: "It's great to procure Adam's services. He is such a young and exciting player as well as a crowd pleaser.

"You tend not to see as many exciting wingers these days, but Adam has skill in abundance and is a terrific goalscorer, from anywhere on the pitch.

"It is really pleasing to see that he concentrates much more time recently to his defending duties which helps consolidate the team. He is undoubtedly one of the best wingers in this division, if not above."

On Danny Mitchley, the manager added: "For a boy who was on the dole only a few weeks ago, since joining the club, including his trial period, he has shown great commitment and trains very hard to improve his game.

"I see him as a young and up and coming forward who has a real thirst for the game and wants to do well and achieve things. I think he's a player for the future and will enhance our football team."
