ALFRETON Town manager Nicky Law has made his second signing for the new season with former Mansfield Town wide man Nathan Arnold joining the Reds from Blue Square Bet North rivals Hyde United.

Arnold, 23, who has signed on contract with the Reds, had joined Hyde in August 2009 after rejecting a new deal and thus ending a four-year spell at Field Mill where he had made over 100 league and cup appearances after progressing from the club's Centre of Excellence.

The left-sided side player netted 11 times for Hyde despite missing a chunk of the season through injury.

And Law feels Arnold will bring plenty to his side.

He said: “We have signed a very different type of player. He has loads of pace, can play wide, behind the front two or up top alongside one of the other strikers. He will give competition to Paul Clayton, Liam Hearn and Anthony Wilson.

“If we want to change the way we play, particularly away from home, we can do, but one thing is for sure, he will increase our attacking options and goal threat significantly.

“Coming from Mansfield, he is a local lad who was keen to join us. He is a good age, already has good pedigree and I am sure he is a player our supporters will take to.”
