Daryl Clare believes his loan move away from Mansfield will help him win membership of the exclusive 200 club.

The Conference legend, 31, is stuck on 175 career goals, but wants to reach his next milestone in non-league's top tier, where he has made his name.

On Friday, Clare joined Gateshead until Christmas and set his sights on helping the Heed march clear of relegation trouble - before returning to Field Mill to aid David Holdsworth's side's Football League return.

Clare said: "It's an ambition to score 200 goals and I really want to do it at this level. I certainly think I have got another 25 in the old boots.

"I just can't break into the Mansfield side at the minute as hard as I try, so this offers me the opportunity to get some football and hopefully get some goals.

"I want to do what I can to keep Gateshead in the league and, when I go back in the New Year, get the Stags out of it."
