Mansfield Town chairman Andy Perry says new manager David Holdsworth has proved an ideal fit at Field Mill.

Holdsworth, who replaced Billy McEwan as manager last month, has notched 1-0 victories in both his games in charge - away at Lewes and at home to Crawley.

Perry told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's shaken things up.

"Behind the scenes, if we could have written down the type of character we wanted then this was the guy and we're really pleased he's on board with us."

Perry added: "We've got plenty of points to play for to get us into a play-off position.

"We were concerned things were going the wrong way for us but now we're very positive.

"There's a fantastic morale around the club and everyone's got a smile back on their faces."

The Stags are 13 points off the play-off places and five points above the relegation zone.
