Excerpts from Stagsnet reports in last 2 seasons:

21st December 2001
Mansfield Town 0 Exeter City 1
Report by Martin Shaw
Stags were beaten 1-0 by Exeter City at Field Mill tonight ... It was a desperately disappointing result for the Stags who had the opportunity to return to second place. ... Exeter included ... keeper Arjan Van Heusden who will be remembered by Stags fans for his inspirational performance at Field Mill last season.
The opening half was extraordinary for its total domination by Mansfield. Rarely can a half have been so one-sided. ... Time after time, Van Heusden pulled great saves out of the bag and looked almost unbeatable.
Somehow the Stags really didn't get going in the second half and couldn't break down a resolute Exeter defence that never tired. ... One ... good chance came when a ball through the middle seemed to find Piper as favourite to chip the ball over Van Heusden as the keeper charged out of his box. But the keeper somehow smothered with his body fully 10 yards outside his area and the chance was gone. It summed up a poor evening for Matt Piper.

2nd February 2001
Mansfield Town 1 Exeter City 1
Martin Shaw at Field Mill
This game will be remembered ... for the opening of the West Stand, and a wonderful strike by Wayne Corden ... Stags started woefully ... At the end of the first half, Stags were booed off the field.
How different the start of the second half was from the first half. After 50 minutes, Wayne Corden ... scored ... Suddenly the Stags were on fire and had a period of pressure for 10 minutes as good as anything seen all season. From crosses from the left wing, Mark Blake produced 2 great headers that were brilliantly saved by Exeter keeper Arjan Van Heusden, and Bradley headed against the underside of the bar. ... There was another Bradley header that was also fantastically saved by Van Heusden from a Corden corner, ...
