After a red card at Stevenage during his first month on loan, he saw red again for a headbutt in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Weymouth which has resulted in a four-match ban.

"Max's loan spell is up and we would like to thank him for his efforts during his time with us and also be thankful to Shefield United for letting him come to us," Stags manager Billy McEwan told mansfieldtown.net.

"I have had a good chat with Max and he will return to Sheffield United much wiser. His stay here has been a big learning process. He has gone round to thank all the players and staff individually."

Chanot made seven appearances in Mansfield colours and was Man of the Match on his debut against Woking.

He was given three games by the FA for violent conduct for Saturday's red card, plus an extra match punishment because it was his second dismissal of the season.

Manager Billy McEwan said after the game on Saturday that the player would be fined and added: "I was disappointed with Max. He had just got back in the team. It was a rush of blood from an inexperienced player and he had to go I am afraid.

"It was a fantastic run he made before he collided with the lad at the end of it and what he did then was just stupid.

"He left us in the cart and was very lucky the lads dug him out. It was unprofessional and disappointing but this happens with young lads, especially on loan. It leaves us short on players."

Chanot appeared to headbutt Adam Bygrave in first half stoppage time of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Weymouth and was sent off.

Chanot, on loan from Sheffield United, received a four match ban because of his previous red car earlier this season at Stevenage.

He was given three games for Saturday's red card, plus an extra match punishment because it was his second dismissal of the season.

Manager Billy McEwan said after the game on Saturday that the player would be fined and added: "I was disappointed with Max. He had just got back in the team. It was a rush of blood from an inexperienced player and he had to go I am afraid.

Chanot appeared to head-butt Weymouth's Adam Bygrave during a confrontation.

Stags manager Billy McEwan told the club's website: "Max will be fined for his actions.

"It was a stupid thing to do. He had to go I'm afraid but had he stayed on the field, we may well have gone on to win the game."

Chanot was also sent off at Stevenage Borough earlier this season.

The 18-year-old joined Mansfield on loan from Sheffield United in October.
