Mansfield have signed French left-back Alex Jeannin, following his release by Blue Square Premier rivals Oxford.

The 30-year-old, who was on trial with the Stags, had been transfer-listed after one season at Oxford, following his switch from Hereford last summer.

And United agreed to mutually terminate Jeannin's contract on Wednesday so he could complete his move to Mansfield.

He played 28 league games for the U's last season but finished the term on loan at Kidderminster.

The defender began his career at Troyes in his homeland before spells at Darlington, Exeter and Bristol Rovers.

He told the Stags website: "I have played at Field Mill a few times and we always got battered every time. Hopefully it will be a good year and I am looking forward to the new season.

"I will give 200% to the team and hopefully the fans will appreciate that."
