Haslam (48), of Calver, Derbyshire, had been due to stand trial before Chesterfield magistrates for charges of failing to provide a specimen at the roadside and failing to provide a specimen at a police station on 11th November on Chesterfield.

But last week Haslam's solicitor sent a fax formally entering a guilty plea to the charges.

And on Tuesday he was disqualified from driving for four years, fined £3,500, ordered to pay £650 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Haslam had previously been due to stand trial in May but the case was adjourned after he was assaulted by an angry Mansfield Town fan at Field Mill on 26th April.

Ex-Mansfield Y+Town owner Haslam's four-year driving ban
Evening Post, 09/07/2008
Mansfield Town's former owner Keith Haslam was yesterday banned from driving for four years and fined £3,500 for his second drink-related driving offence in seven years.

Magistrates in Chesterfield heard that a police patrol saw Haslam's Range Rover speeding along the A617 Hasland bypass.

They followed it through Chesterfield for almost two miles and saw it drive through a red light and mount a pavement before pulling it over.

Gilbert Barnett, prosecuting, said: "He got out of the vehicle and stumbled and was struggling to walk in a straight line."

Haslam, 48, of Moorlands Road, Froggatt, Derbyshire, was given four chances to take a roadside breath test and was arrested when he did not.

Taken to Chesterfield police station, he began falling asleep and had to be roused by officers.

Haslam supplied insufficient breath four times for intoxilyser machine tests at the police station.

He initially denied failing to provide breath specimens, but changed his plea to guilty a few days before his trial.
